Evgeniia Belobrovkina is a Ph.D. candidate at the Missouri School of Journalism. She started her doctoral program in the fall of 2019 and plans to graduate in the spring of 2024. Evgeniia has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Russian State Social University in Moscow, Russia, as well as a master’s degree in public health with the concentration on health promotion and policy from the University of Missouri. Pursuing a doctoral degree, Evgeniia concentrates on research in strategic health communication, where she uses her interdisciplinary knowledge (public health and journalism). Thus, Evgeniia aims to help mitigate public health problems and issues of social justice for vulnerable populations (e.g., domestic violence, gender equality, and negative social norms) through effective strategic communication; particularly, through public service announcements.
Working with Gregory Scholars, Evgeniia would like to achieve two main goals: (1) to increase interest of Scholars in socially oriented research that can make a difference, and (2) to bring practical implications of that research to MU campus (e.g., relating to minorities or sexual assault on campus). In other words, Evgeniia hopes that her collaboration with Gregory Scholars eventually results in real positive changes for MU.
